Key Looks Defining AW21
The world of fashion as we know is ever-evolving – Et Vous began in 2007 at a time when travelling the world to source and hand-select the collections we house in-store was at our fingertips. We pride ourselves in remaining to exclusively provide New Zealand with the likes of Claudio Cutuli (Italy), Molly Younger (Australia), Miriam Nori (Italy), Nelly Johansson and more. We also have the biggest Rundholz collection (Germany) in New Zealand.
This season marks many trends that can define your look for months to come. We've gathered some of the key trends and listed them below.
Products from left to right: Rundholz Black Cosmos Coat, Rundholz Black Astra Tee Shirt, Scotch & Soda Embroidered Top With Voluminous Sleeves, Rundholz Black Mint Bag.
Women are adopting the exaggerated silhouettes to show off the importance of being seen and purposely taking up space. This fall showed many designers using oversized sleeves and volume to (literally) fill the runway. Not only is this powerful and when colour is added, a real statement but it is also quite a clever way to create some safe social distancing. Upscaling proportions has allowed for designers to express their flair and show of their talent while lifting the mood of the wearer beneath.
Clean cut and proud tailored suiting has become more feminine in shape this season. History has shown many shifts in tailoring from The Row and Marc Jacobs (where the look was seen through a 1960s lens) during New York Fashion Week, which read as a homecoming for the 24/7 appeal of clean, hard-working style that was so much a part of the 1990s New York aesthetic. Now silhouettes are slimming down and provide a polished full tailored look.
Luxurious textural knits are more than worthy in our eyes. Influencers are turning toward the most admired piece in the acclaimed American writers fashion playbook. Designed to wear all day and amped up by texture and detail to provide a wintertime comfort favourite for the WFM life
While comfort has become a priority in the home, the need for something more striking while out in public has also been a fun contrast when out and about. With the need for both scenarios, the pared back metalic look is a custom solution for the modern woman who has adjusted to the 24 hour comfort of being at home.
